Coasts Casks and Castles

The Coasts, Casks & Castles – Founders Tour is where the Iron & Ember story begins. Over five days and four nights, eight riders will journey through some of Scotland’s most unforgettable landscapes, from historic streets and Highland roads to dramatic coastlines, whisky country and castle-lined routes. This is a tour built for riders who want more than a route on a map: sweeping bends, carefully chosen hotels, shared dinners, fireside stories, quiet morning starts and the feeling of being part of something from the very beginning. Every mile has been planned with purpose, blending the thrill of the ride with the comfort, character and connection that define Iron & Ember.

The Founders Tour

A five-day guided motorcycle journey through Scotland’s roads, landscapes and stories

The Coasts, Casks & Castles – Founders Tour is an exclusive five-day guided motorcycle journey through some of Scotland’s most breathtaking riding territory.

Designed for just eight riders, this inaugural experience sets the tone for everything Iron & Ember stands for: exceptional roads, refined comfort, unforgettable moments and a shared love of two wheels.

From the historic streets of Edinburgh to the Highland curves of Pitlochry, the coastal drama of Aberdeen, the wild beauty of Fort William and the quiet charm of Crieff, every mile has been chosen with intention.

This is not a rush.

Day 1

Edinburgh to Pitlochry

Historic streets, open roads and the gateway to the Highlands

We begin in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital, before leaving the city behind and heading north towards the gateway of the Highlands.

The first day is designed to settle the group into the rhythm of the tour. Expect scenic roads, relaxed riding and a gradual shift from city streets to open countryside, rivers, forests and Highland edges.

Our destination is Pitlochry, a beautiful Highland town known for its charm, scenery and ideal position as a first overnight stop.

This first evening sets the tone for the days ahead: good food, good company and the feeling that the adventure has properly begun.

Highlights
  • Depart from Edinburgh

  • Scenic roads into Highland Perthshire

  • First group dinner

  • Overnight in the Pitlochry area

Day 2

Pitlochry to Aberdeen

Castles, casks and the road east

Day two takes us through some of Scotland’s most characterful riding country.

We move through Highland roads, whisky country and historic landscapes as we make our way towards the east coast. This is where the “Casks” part of the tour comes alive, with a distillery experience and curated tasting forming part of the journey.

The ride blends flowing roads, rural Scotland, castle country and coastal atmosphere before we arrive in Aberdeen, Scotland’s Granite City.

Highlights
  • Highland and rural riding roads

  • Distillery experience

  • Curated whisky tasting

  • Castle country

  • Overnight in the Aberdeen area

Day 3

Aberdeen to Fort William

From coastal drama to the wild west

This is one of the most memorable riding days of the tour.

Leaving Aberdeen, we ride across Scotland from east to west, trading coastal drama and granite city streets for the wild beauty of the Highlands.

The landscape grows bigger and more dramatic as we head towards Fort William, one of Scotland’s most iconic Highland towns. Sitting beneath Ben Nevis and surrounded by lochs, glens and mountain roads, Fort William captures the rugged spirit of the west coast.

This is Scotland at its finest: open roads, big skies and scenery that stays with you.

Highlights
  • Coast-to-coast riding

  • Highland passes and mountain scenery

  • Lochs, glens and wide open roads

  • Overnight in the Fort William area

Day 4

Fort William to Crieff

Lochs, glens and legendary roads

Day four is all about classic Scottish riding.

We leave Fort William and ride through some of the most beautiful landscapes of the tour. Expect lochside roads, open glens, mountain views and sweeping bends through scenery shaped by history, weather and time.

Along the way, we include a coastal boat excursion, giving riders a different perspective on Scotland’s wild places before continuing the journey south-east towards Crieff.

Crieff provides a relaxed and characterful final overnight stop, with time for one last proper group evening before the return ride to Edinburgh.

Highlights
  • West Highland scenery

  • Lochside and glen roads

  • Coastal boat excursion

  • Final group evening

  • Overnight in the Crieff area

Day 5

Crieff to Edinburgh

The final ride home

Our final day brings us back towards Edinburgh, but not before enjoying one last stretch of Scottish riding.

The route home gives the group time to enjoy the final roads, take in the last views and reflect on five days of riding through some of the best landscapes Scotland has to offer.

We return to Edinburgh having completed a true Scottish loop: coasts, casks, castles, Highlands, lochs, cities, villages and miles of unforgettable riding.

Highlights
  • Final scenic ride

  • Return to Edinburgh

  • End-of-tour farewell

  • The beginning of the Iron & Ember story

Riding Style

This is a road-based motorcycle tour designed for confident riders who are comfortable with full days in the saddle.

The pace is steady, scenic and enjoyable. It is not a race, and it is not about riding flat out. The focus is on great roads, strong group riding, beautiful stops and a premium touring experience.

Riders should be comfortable riding on mixed Scottish roads, including A-roads, rural routes, bends, changing weather and occasional rougher road surfaces.

You do not need to be an expert rider, but you should be confident handling your motorcycle over a full day of touring.

Support Vehicle and Luggage

Your main luggage will be transferred during the tour, allowing you to enjoy the ride without overloading your motorcycle.

Our support vehicle adds reassurance throughout the trip and helps keep the experience smooth, practical and comfortable.

Riders are welcome to bring their own suitable touring motorcycle.

Optional assistance with premium motorcycle hire may also be available for those travelling from further afield or those who would prefer not to use their own bike.
