Our Story
Where Iron Meets Ember
Iron & Ember didn’t start in a boardroom.
It started on the road.
Between miles of Scottish tarmac, quiet fuel stops, and conversations that drifted somewhere between “there must be a better way to do this” and “why don’t we build it ourselves?”
We’ve both spent decades riding. Across the UK. Across Europe. Big trips. Small trips. Perfect days and sideways rain. And we kept coming back to the same thought:
Motorcycle touring should feel intentional.
It shouldn’t feel like you’re one of twenty riders trying to keep up.
It shouldn’t feel rushed.
And it definitely shouldn’t feel average.
So we built the kind of tour we’d want to ride.
Small groups.
Exceptional roads.
Proper hotels.
Evenings that feel as good as the miles.
Routes that are tested, refined, and chosen because they’re genuinely worth riding — not just because they look good on a map.
Meet The Team
Steve
Co-Founder | Lead Guide | Rider
Steve has been riding motorcycles for over 40 years, long before GPS, ride modes, and traction control were part of the conversation.
His machine of choice is a Harley-Davidson Electra Glide, a bike built for distance, comfort, and the kind of presence that turns heads long before it arrives. It reflects his style of riding: steady, confident, and always about the journey.
Over four decades, Steve has led and completed tours across the length and breadth of the UK, from sweeping Highland roads to quiet coastal routes and everything in between. His experience doesn’t just come from miles ridden, but from years of planning, navigating, problem-solving, and ensuring every rider gets home with stories worth telling.
He understands what makes a tour flow, the pacing, the regroup points, the right places to stop, and when to let the road simply unfold.
Steve has completed Biker Down safety training, reinforcing his commitment to rider awareness and on-road safety. That foundation, combined with decades of practical mechanical knowledge and real-world touring experience, means you’re riding with someone who understands bikes and riders inside and out.
Perhaps just as importantly, Steve brings extensive local knowledge to every route. The hidden roads. The better coffee stops. The places most people ride past without realising what they’ve missed.
With Steve leading the way, tours are relaxed but professional, well-paced but never rushed. The focus is always on making the ride memorable for the roads, the scenery, and the company.

Stuart
Co-Founder | Operations | Technical Lead
Stuart has been riding for over 20 years drawn to bikes not just for the speed, but for the freedom and the precision that comes with two wheels.
He rides a R 1250 GS, a machine that reflects his style: balanced, capable, and built for distance with intent.
While Steve brings four decades of touring heritage, Stuart is the strategist and systems mind behind Iron & Ember. He is the tech, the logistics, and the problem-solver ensuring every tour runs seamlessly from first enquiry to final mile.
His favourite riding memory?
A 50cc moped tearing through the narrow streets of Lido in Venice, sun setting, salt in the air, no itinerary, just instinct and exploration. Because sometimes the smallest engine delivers the biggest grin.
Stuart has completed extensive UK riding and European trips, combining a love of long-distance touring with a sharp eye for detail. He understands that great experiences don’t happen by accident — they’re engineered.
From route planning and rider communications to troubleshooting the unexpected, Stuart will be on every tour to ensure smooth running, rider support, and the small details that elevate a trip from good to exceptional.
If something needs fixing, adjusting, adapting, or improving, he’s already on it.
